The Big Five Tour
In Africa, the big five game animals are the Lion, Leopard, Rhinoceros, Elephant, and Cape Buffalo. The term “big five game” was coined by big-game hunters and refers to the five most difficult animals in Africa to hunt on foot.
The tour begins at Ugandaa��s most visited National Park, home to 95 mammal species and over 500 bird species. Queen Elizabeth National Park is also known for its volcanic features, including volcanic cones and deep craters.
Do Lions Climb Trees? There are no more than 2 populations in whole world where one can find lions that climb trees as part of their day-to-day behavior. One of these populations is found withinA�the IshashaA�sector which is found in the southern part of the Queen Elizabeth National Park.
This will be followed by close sightings of the powerful Cape Buffalo, magnificent elephants and last but not least – Leopards that are best spotted during the nocturnal game drive.
Thereafter, guests may visit the mighty Murchison Falls and the surrounding Murchison Falls Conservation Area comprising of Murchison Falls National Park, Bugungu Wildlife Reserve and Karuma Falls Wildlife Reserve. This is where the Nile blasts through a narrow gorge and cascades down to become a placid river whose banks are thronged with hippos and crocodiles, waterbucks and buffaloes. The vegetation is characterized by savannah, riverine forest and woodland. Wildlife includes Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Giraffes, Hartebeests, Antelopes, Kobs, chimpanzees, and many bird species.
At the end of the tour, guests may opt to go via the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where there is an active Rhino rehabilitation program. This large reserve allows the Rhinos to roam in the wild in their natural habitat.
