The Nile Tour
Uganda is hailed as the source of the legendary River Nile; the longest river in the world. This tour begins at the very source of the River Nile in Jinja, an hoursa drive from the capital, Kampala. Escorted by a safari guide, you will be able to witness the point at which the River Nile flows out of Lake Victoria as observed by the great explorer John Hanning Speke in 1858.
In Jinja, guests can engage in a range of water sports on the Nile such as kayaking, canoeing, tubing and rafting. You will experience whitewater rafting at its very best. The peaks and valleys of the calm waters preceded by turbulent rapids make it a one of a kind experience. Led by professionals, you will plunge into the maelstrom and ride the rugged waves downstream. Our rafts explode through huge walls of whitewater and drift through the warm green pools (27AC) in the equatorial sunshine.
This tour will follow the River Nile westerly (a 6 hour journey) through Murchison Falls and the surrounding Murchison Falls Conservation Area comprising of Murchison Falls National Park, Bugungu Wildlife Reserve and Karuma Falls Wildlife Reserve. This is where the Nile blasts through a narrow gorge and cascades down to become a placid river whose banks are thronged with hippos and crocodiles, waterbucks and buffaloes. The vegetation is characterized by savannah, riverine forest and woodland. Wildlife includes Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Giraffes, Hartebeests, Antelopes, Kobs, chimpanzees, and many bird species.
